Position Summary:

The Junior Accountant will be involved with account reconciliations, client payment handling, receivable activities and other general accounting functions. Will be responsible for banking activities including various bank transaction analysis, following up with finance team members relating to journal entries and general investigation of variances. Will also be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of client transactions, resolution of internal and external stakeholder requests as well as month end entries relating to client and other accounts.


  • Maintain controls and procedures to ensure accurate and clearly presented account reconciliations;


  • Ensure all assigned accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis
  • Perform journal entries on a monthly basis relating to various accounts
  • Work with finance team members to investigate variances where needed
  • Work with finance team ensuring all banking activity is reconciled to the appropriate revenue accounts
  • Work closely with finance manager on accurate cash projections and analysis
  • Monitoring of client transactions, prepaid accounts and revenue entries


  • Ensure cheques are deposited through Deposit Edge promptly
  • Accurately run Pre-Authorized Payments for Rentals
  • Process Credit Card Payments and apply receipts in GP
  • Ensure Revenue from various feeders is booked to the correct accounts
  • Monitor prepaid accounts for accuracy
  • Other tasks within the Finance department as required
  • Complete month-end reconciliations and journal entries
  • Assist in month-end close and identify and resolve all relevant variances
  • Assist in year-end financial audit by preparing audit schedules and communicating with auditors
  • Assist with special projects as needed

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 2-3 years experience in a finance department role with account reconciliation and accounting experience
  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree in accounting, business administration or related study
  • Ideally working through the CPA program
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of personal accountability and ownership in their work
  • Ability to carry out assigned projects to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience with Great Plains is a definite asset
  • Advanced in MS Excel and a good understanding of MS Office Suite
