Background
Critter Care Wildlife Society specializes in the treatment, care and release of sick, injured and orphaned native mammal species of British Columbia’s Southern and Lower Mainland. This is the only facility in British Columbia specializing in the care of mammals and one of only three bear rehabilitation facilities in the province.
Challenge
Critter Care Wildlife Society was unable to keep up with demand using residential grade top load washers and dryers in a very small room for all their laundry needs. Typical loads would include blankets, towels and stuffed toys used for the animals. The laundry machines in place could not keep up with the laundry volume and staff would need to take the overflow to the nearest laundromat, especially during mating season. This overwhelmed system was costing the organization hundreds of dollars every month.
Solution
The Coinamatic team’s expertise in the commercial laundry industry helped them plan and design their new laundry space. The customer needed to create a larger laundry room and increase their wash capacity, and we planned with them to have a 20-foot shipping container converted to a laundry room. Our team advised on the appropriate equipment models for the project, and we were able to offer a TotalCare® rental program providing equipment and service under one fixed monthly payment.
After some revisions of the new laundry room planning and design to make the most efficient laundry room, we fit the right equipment mix into the space. An added challenge was that the washers had to be completely programmable and water efficient because they run off well water, the resulting discharge gray water is then deposited into a septic field.
